Valentine's Day

The Soil Stud and I decided to enjoy a quiet evening at home on Valentine's day.  We planned to spend the night whispering sweet nothings in each others ears.  Or NOT!  Actually, soil stud planned to watch TV and I planned to knit on my second pair of socks!  Of course, we planned to spend time with our kitty, Lily.
Lily is a major snob and instead of sitting on our laps enjoying our affection, she would rather jump out from under the bed and attack us.   The more love we give her, the more detached from us she gets.  Valentine's Day is her LEAST favorite holiday.  Anywho....more on the unending saga of Lily for another time.

About 4 PM I received a phone call from our neighbors.  Keep in mind that in the first 5 houses on our road, 4 of the 5 houses are people who are retired.  (We are the 5th house!)  They are all very kind and we are so fortunate to live where we do.  In fact, the neighbors who had us over would come over to our house when we were remodeling it and would help paint our house while we are at work.  Seriously, there is no one nicer than them!    Anywho...our neighbors invited us over for pizza from the local pizza shop in town.  We gladly accepted the invitation.

So at 6:20 the Soil Stud and I walked down the road to our neighbor's house for pizza and pecan pie!  Two couples celebrating Valentine's day, one couple about to celebrate 5 years of marriage and the other couple about to celebrate 50 years of marriage.  I really treasure spending time with couples who have been married for decades and decades.  So much can be learned about love and respect by just watching them interact. This couple is a wonderful example for others.

We made it home by 9:30, our bellies full of pizza, pecan pie, and laughter!

  2. Thanks, Cris. I think Lily is pretty adorable too in spite of her snobbish personality!
